The title dimethyl acetal 4 and related compounds can be efficiently synthesized by treatment of 6-caprolactone with commercially available dialkyl acetals. Conventional glucosylation using 4 as a glycosyl acceptor gave mainly beta-glycosides which were deprotected to give 13. The latter was converted to the corresponding aldehyde 16, which was used as a hapten in conjugation, by reductive amination, to chicken serum albumin (CSA). Effect of reaction time, concentration and molar ratio of hapten 16 to the number of L-lysine residue in CSA upon incorporation of the hapten was studied using MALDI-TOF spectrometry. High loading of CSA with hapten, up to 22 moles of 16/CSA, could be achieved with 32% efficiency of utilization of the hapten. A glycoconjugate from a derivative, analogous to 16, of the monosaccharide determinant of the O-PS of Vibrio cholerae O:1, serotype Ogawa and CSA was also prepared. The achieved incorporation of the Vibrio cholerae hapten was in remarkable agreement with the value expected, based on the study with the D-glucose derivative.

A spectrophotometric and (1)H NMR kinetic study of the reactions of cis-[PtPh2(CO)(SEt2)] with an extended series of dinitrogen chelating ligands (N-N) of widely different steric and electronic properties has been carried out in dichloromethane solution. The contemporary presence in thestarting substrate of a labile (SEt2) and a relatively inert (CO) ligand in trans to firmly bonded phenyl groups makes it possible to distinguish three different reactivity patterns, according to the nature of the bidentate ligands used. Relatively stable open-ring species of the type cis-[PtPh2(CO)(N-N)] were isolated with the long chain ligand 1,4-diaminobutane and with N-phenyl-1,2-diaminoethane in which one of the two nitrogens exhibits very low basicity and considerable encumbrance. For the other dinitrogen ligands, the relative magnitude of the rates of attack atthe metal and of ring closure dictates whether the chelate formation isseen as a simple conversion of the starting complex into the final chelate [PtPh2(N-N)] or as a two stage process with evidence for the formation of an open-ring species. With rigid or highly sterically hindered ligands such as 2,2′-dipyridyl, 1,10-phenantroline, dicyclohexylethylenediimine or N,N,N’,N’-tetramethylethylenediamine a single stage process fromthe starting complex to the final chelate compound was observed. The rate determinig step is thought to involve slow dissociation of SEt2 from the complex followed by fast ring closing. With 1,2-diaminoethane, 1,3-diaminopropane, 2-aminomethylpyridine, 2-aminoethylpyridine, 2,2′-dipyridylamine and 2,2′-dipyridylsulfide a slow ring closure of the open-ring complex follows the fast entry of the first end of the ligand. The substrate shows a remarkable selectivity between the two nucleophilic ends of an unsymmetrical bidentate ligand with a clear preference for the most basic and the less hindered end. Open-ring reaction intermediates cis-[PtPh2(CO)(N-N)] were characterised in solution by their IR, (1)H and (13)CNMR spectra and their spectroscopic characteristic are compared to those of the parent amine and phosphine compounds. The final chelate compounds [PtPh2(N-N)] were either isolated as solids or characterised in solution.

Chemistry can be defined as the study of matter and the changes it undergoes. You’ll sometimes hear it called the central science because it is the connection between physics and all the other sciences, starting with biology. 499-40-1, Name is (2R,3S,4R,5R)-2,3,4,5-Tetrahydroxy-6-(((2S,3R,4S,5S,6R)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)oxy)hexanal, molecular formula is C12H22O11. Two new compounds, [Cu(acac)(N3)(dpyam)] (1), (acac = acetylacetonate; dpyam = di-2-pyridylamine) and [Cu(mu-N3-kappaN1)(C2N3- kappaN1) (dpyam)]2 (2), have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and magnetic analyses. Compound 1 is a mononuclear compound in which each of two independent Cu(II) ions is penta-coordinated with a distorted square pyramidal geometry with distortion parameters tau = 0.21 and 0.16. In contrast, compound 2 is an azido-bridged dinuclear compound with monodentate dicyanamide anions and the Cu(II) ions display a distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry with tau = 0.73 and end-on azido bridges providing an equatorial-axial position between the metal ions. The EPR spectra of powdered samples for 1 and 2 have also been investigated. Magnetic susceptibility measurements of compound 2 reveal a very weak ferromagnetic interaction between the Cu(II) ions with a J value of +5.8 cm-1.

A wide variety of medically important biofilm forming bacteria produce similar polysaccharide intracellular adhesins (PIAs). The PIA structures consist of partially de-N-acetylated beta-(1?6)-N-acetylglucosamine polymers. These exopolysaccharides are key components of the bacterial biofilm matrix. Here, we describe the efficient synthesis of PIA oligosaccharides using an acid reversion reaction of N-acetylglucosamine in HF·pyridine. The PIA oligosaccharides produced by this reaction can be purified to homogeneity by size exclusion chromatography. Chemistry was developed to conjugate the PIA oligosaccharides to bovine serum albumin using a new heterobifunctional linker containing a thiol and an N-methylhydroxylamine functional group. These glycoconjugates may serve as useful precursors for the development of defined conjugate vaccines against PIA producing bacterial strains.

(D)-Glucosamine and other nutritional supplements have emerged as safe alternative therapies for osteoarthritis, a chronic and degenerative articular joint disease. N-acetyl-(D)-glucosamine, a compound that can be modified at the N position, is considered to improve the oral bioavailability of (D)-glucosamine and has been proven to possess greater in vitro chondroprotective activity compared with the parent agent. In this study, to further utilize these properties, we focus on the modification of the N position with a benzenesulfonyl and different isoxazole formyl groups. Among these compounds, the 3-(2-chlorobenzene)-5-methyl-isoxazole formyl chloride and p-methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride modifying structures proved to be the most active of the series and efficiently processed the chondrocytes in vitro. These novel N-position substitution compounds may represent promising leads for osteoarthritis drug development.

An efficient strategy to construct beta-O-2-amino-2-deoxyglycopyranosidic linkages using glycosyl sulfoxides is demonstrated. Phenylsulfenyl 2-deoxy- 2-trifluoroacetamido glycopyranosides were found to be reactive glycosyl donors in both solid- and solution-phase glycosylations, affording the corresponding beta-glycosides exclusively and in high yield. The trifluoroacetamido group was removed under mild conditions, allowing orthogonal derivatization of multiple protected amino groups on an oligosaccharide or glycoconjugate. On the basis of the results with these glycosyl donors, a solid-phase beta-linked disaccharide library was constructed. The scope and flexibility of this approach will be discussed.

A reliable Fisher discriminant model was established which was able to analyze the aroma component in milk, dairy products, flavors and fragrance, and applied on its variety identification. Foodomics was applied on screening of flavor components in 1093 dairy products and flavor samples in this study. Stepwise discrimination was used to screen the components of the dairy products and flavor samples that had a significant effect on the classification results, and discriminant function analysis. Then nine principal components were used for established the Fisher discriminant model. The three-dimensional coordinate distance of the sample was calculated and as the gist. The result showed that samples and flavors were distributed in eight different sites. The separation and clustering effects are better. The objective of the present study was to effectively determine whether or not flavors were added to dairy products.
